SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Legendary Brazilian footballer Ronaldo has become the owner of Cruzeiro, the club where he started his career and from which he moved to Europe in 1994, specifically to PSV.
He briefly announced himself on Twitter with a heart in the club's colours and a fox emoji representing Cruzeiro's nickname.
"I have a lot to give back to this club. There is a lot of work ahead of us, and we want to return Cruzeiro to where it belongs," Ronaldo briefly stated in a live Instagram broadcast, which shows him celebrating the club's purchase.
Cruzeiro is a four-time Brazilian champion, winning its last two titles in 2013 and 2014. It was also the South American champion in 1976 and 1997, but it currently competes in the second Brazilian league, finishing only 14th out of 20 teams last season.
This is the second club Ronaldo is the majority owner of; since 2018, he has been the main figure at Spanish second-division club Valladolid.
