ITALY, (Patria) - Parents of children from BiH who are in Italy building their basketball careers in Italian clubs have addressed a letter to the Patria News Agency.
Among these children are several BiH national team players. The parents claim that the BiH Consulate in Italy, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH, have information about 73 BiH citizens, predominantly young people, who are currently in Italy and awaiting BiH's reaction on their relocation from Italy.
“Montenegro has already done this, Serbia is preparing lists because it has a larger number of people in Italy. We ask you to publish this information so that the competent services or institutions, as a crisis headquarters, also have the data, because we are aware that due to this situation with the coronavirus, many things are happening right now, so perhaps this is a way we can inform the people who need to react on this issue. Thank you in advance on behalf of the concerned parents,” the parents state.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH confirmed for Patria yesterday that an organized return of BiH citizens to BiH is not planned for now. However, the MFA BiH mentioned some other countries with registered requests, but not Italy.
“Some of the countries from which there are the most registered requests are Germany - 79, Turkey - 26, Russian Federation - 16, Egypt - 16, Spain - 10, but these are changeable numbers given the very dynamic situation that changes from moment to moment,” said the MFA BiH.
