Rimac will not give consent: Ismet Gavrankapetanović cannot head KCUS!

(Patria) - Ismet Gavrankapetanović, allegedly, does not meet the criteria for appointment as General Director of the University Clinical Center of Sarajevo (KCUS). Given this, the approval that Nediljko Rimac, the Minister of Health of the FBiH entity, might eventually give would be a criminal offense. And, as stated to Politicki.ba from several sources, he will not do that.

Therefore, it is quite certain that the KCUS Management Board will receive a rejection from the Ministry of Health and - very possibly - an order to announce a new competition for the General Director.

Although Gavrankapetanović received the highest scores during the competition procedure, it was already pointed out at the time that he did not meet the formal requirements - he lacked the paperwork for managerial qualifications.

According to the claims of Politicki.ba's interlocutors, the response provided by the Faculty of Economics of the University of Sarajevo, and especially the letter from the Government of Sarajevo Canton, "is more a result of political pressure than anything else".

Interlocutors of the Politički.ba portal also state that Minister Rimac has "assembled a legal team that is preparing a detailed response to all questions regarding Gavrankapetanović" and that the public could be informed about everything "very soon". The opinion of the relevant minister has been expected for days. It was announced for the end of last week, but was postponed. Some of Politicki.ba's interlocutors believe that the content of this long-awaited text could finally be published tomorrow.

In the meantime, contacts and meetings between "interested parties" have continued - the leaders of Trojka and HDZ 1990, from whose quota Rimac was appointed.

It was also stated to the Politicki.ba portal that some of the leaders of Trojka have accepted the decision to nominate someone else instead of Gavrankapetanović.

Elmedin Konaković, the leader of Narod i Pravda, is not among them, and he continues to demand that the agreement within the federal-level coalition be respected and Gavrankapetanović be appointed. Otherwise, he threatens criminal charges. And at least two doctors who complained to the Ministry of Health about the KCUS Management Board's decision to nominate Gavrankapetanović have also threatened criminal charges.

In addition to this formal requirement of qualification for health management, Gavrankapetanović is more a victim of internal conflicts between interest groups within Trojka. Especially parts of SDP and NiP are not for the agreed solution of the Trojka leaders and are looking for another name. Some of them are pushing for the current acting director of KCUS, Alen Pilav.

The KCUS Management Board told Politicki.ba that the way out is clearly to annul this competition and announce a new one for the director of the strongest healthcare institution in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Such a decision could be made at the end of this month at the KCUS Management Board session. And by then, the definitive stance (read: rejection) from the Ministry of Health should arrive.
