Rivers gradually receding into their beds

(Patria) - Mostly cloudy weather is expected today. Local showers are forecast for the afternoon in Herzegovina, central, eastern, and southwestern parts of Bosnia. Thunderstorms are also possible in Herzegovina. Wind in Bosnia will be light northeasterly, and in Herzegovina, for most of the day, light to moderate southwesterly.

Regarding water levels, there are no longer critical points, and rivers are gradually receding into their beds.

Currently, stagnation and slight decreases in water levels are being recorded at most hydrological stations in the Una and Sana river basins. At the Klokot hydrological station on the Klokot River, and at the Ključ and Sanski Most hydrological stations on the Sana River, water levels are still above the thresholds at which flood warnings begin (for flood-prone areas defined by FOP), but a trend of stagnation and slight decrease is being observed.

According to prognostic meteorological models, maximum precipitation occurred last night. A decrease in precipitation intensity to minimal values is forecast overnight.

According to prognostic hydrological models, a slight decrease in water levels in the Una and Sana river basins is forecast, along with a gradual stabilization of water levels. Currently, stagnation and slight decreases in water levels are being recorded at most hydrological stations in the Bosna river basin.

At the Maglaj hydrological station on the Bosna River, and at the Karanovac hydrological station on the Spreča River, water levels are still above the thresholds at which flood warnings begin (for flood-prone areas defined by FOP), but a trend of stagnation and slight decrease is being observed. According to prognostic hydrological models, a slight decrease in water levels at stations in the Bosna river basin is forecast, along with a gradual stabilization of water levels.

For flood-prone areas in the immediate Sava River basin (Odžak and Middle Posavina), a steady rise in water levels is being recorded at the Slavonski Brod (approx. 9 cm per hour) and Slavonski Šamac (approx. 11 cm per hour) water gauge stations.

Therefore, the Sava River Water Agency Sarajevo has submitted a request to legal entities responsible for implementing active flood defense measures in these areas, asking for enhanced monitoring of flood protection facilities, and they are on standby for the potential implementation of regular flood defense measures. If the water level rise continues according to forecasts, it can be expected that thresholds for declaring regular flood defense will be reached in the coming days. Consequently, continuous monitoring of water levels at all water gauge stations in the Sava River basin will continue, with a special focus on those relevant to the flood-prone areas of Odžak and Middle Posavina.
