RIZE, (Patria) - Robert Prosinečki remained undefeated on the Dragons' bench for the seventh game in a row.
This time, the BiH national team drew in a goalless match in Rize, against hosts Turkey.
It was a match with two different halves, but also two different faces of our selection, considering that we played the first 45 minutes somewhat better and more aggressively...
In the opening minutes, the home players were slightly better. Ozyakup had the first concrete chance, shooting over the goal from a good position.
However, the Dragons then threatened through Edin Višća. The Basaksehir winger ran into the Turkish penalty area from an angle in the 14th minute, shot well, but Bolat deflected the ball into a corner.
Four minutes later, an even better chance. Bolat deflected the ball after a good shot by Zakarić, and then Višća ran onto the rebound, but his shot went wide.
Then the Turks threatened again, but Ibrahim Šehić saved good shots from Çalhanoğlu and Under. Enes Ünal had the best chance for the hosts in the first half in the 32nd minute, finding himself face-to-face with our goalkeeper, but shooting wide from about ten meters. We were very lucky in that situation.
The excellent first 45 minutes, although chances were created at both ends of the field, ended 0-0.
Prosinečki made as many as four substitutions at halftime, and the departure of Pjanić, Džeko, and Višća significantly dulled the edge of our attack in the second half.
The beginning of the second half was marked by a calmer tempo, without too many chances. Turkey broke the monotony in the 68th minute; after a great counter-attack, Hakan Çalhanoğlu had a great chance, but shot over the goal from seven to eight meters.
Then Tosun ran alone towards Begović, who had replaced Šehić at halftime, but shot wide of the BiH goal. Çalhanoğlu had another chance in the 72nd minute, but was slightly inaccurate after a free-kick.
We seemed inferior at that moment; the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team struggled to connect their lines, while the hosts slowly tightened the noose. In the very final moments of the match, the Turkish players created a few more half-chances, but Asmir Begović kept a clean sheet until the end. The match ended with the same score that was on the scoreboard at the beginning, 0-0. (Scsport.ba)
