Bosnia and Herzegovina handball players draw with Lithuanians in a tense finish

The handball national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina played a match in the second round of Group 1 of the qualifiers for the 2017 World Championship in France, writes the Patria news agency.

The handball Dragons were guests in Lithuania, and the final result was 27:27.

Dragan Marković's team led until the 53rd minute of the match when the Lithuanians took the lead 24:23. The end of the match was extremely tense, so instead of a calm finish, we watched an uncertain game.

Two minutes before the end, the Lithuanians were left with one player less at a score of 26:26, which our team took advantage of to take the lead 27:26. In the last half minute, the Lithuanians equalized at 27:27, and Dragan Marković requested a timeout 20 seconds before the end of the match. However, our team failed to secure victory in the last attack, as Alen Ovčina failed to score in the final seconds of the match.

Although our coaching staff protested and claimed that the ball entered the Lithuanian goal in time, the referees did not count the goal.

Bosnia and Herzegovina had previously defeated Slovakia by a score of 29:25. The Lithuanians, on the other hand, defeated Kosovo away 30:26. In the first match of the second round in our group, Slovakia defeated Kosovo 38:20 yesterday. The first-placed team in the group will play in the playoffs for the World Championship.
