Center in Potočari being reconstructed for the 20th anniversary of the genocide

By the end of April, the names of presidents and other officials who will attend the 20th anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica on July 11, in which in 1995 the police and army of Republika Srpska, together with the army from Serbia, killed more than 8,000 Bosniaks, will be known, writes the BiH news agency Patria.

Ćamil Duraković, the mayor of Srebrenica, told the Patria news agency that the President of Slovenia Borut Pahor and the President of Montenegro Filip Vujanović have confirmed their attendance so far, and in the coming weeks, the attendance of other statesmen from Europe and the world is expected to be confirmed.

Architect Ahmet Kapidžić has completed the drafts for the changes to the Memorial Center, which will be made on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the genocide. He revealed to Patria that these are new details at the Center, such as a plateau where foreign statesmen will stand. The new plateau will be divided into three cascades and will be able to accommodate about 200 guests. Director Haris Pašović expressed the desire for a separate plateau for statesmen.

- These are not major changes to the Center, but we will still have new details specially made for this occasion – revealed architect Kapidžić.

Al Jazeera headquarters in Doha will finance the live broadcast of the commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the genocide, which will be provided free of charge to all TV stations and the world, reports Patria.
