Reisul-ulema in Zavidovići: It is important that we know what we are leaving for new generations

(Patria) - The Reisul-ulema of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Husein-ef. Kavazović, visited Zavidovići today, where he attended a Mevlud program and met with representatives of the religious and public life of this city.

After a meeting with the leadership and imams of the Zavidovići Islamic Community Council, Reisul-ulema Kavazović visited the mektebs (religious schools) in the Donji Kovači and Desna Obala communities.

– It is important that we know what we are leaving for new generations. I am pleased that on the first day of the mekteb year, I had the opportunity to visit two mektebs in Zavidovići and see a large number of children. I hope it is like this throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina – emphasized the Reisul-ulema.

A meeting was also held with the Mayor of Zavidovići, as well as with employees in the political, economic, and social sectors.

The meeting was also an opportunity to discuss the principles of responsibility, cooperation, and ethics, as well as a reminder of the important social role of all those present.

– If there is one place where we should direct our strength, it is towards children. We need to raise them, and then educate them adequately. I will ask businessmen to pay attention to our schools as well. When you want to endow something, do it in the schools you attended – the Reisul-ulema told those present.

The Mayor of Zavidovići, Erna Merdić-Smailhodžić, as the host of this meeting, expressed her satisfaction with the Reisul-ulema's visit, emphasizing that the meeting is part of the activities marking the anniversary of the mosque's opening and announcing the celebration of City Day on September 15.

– We are marking 20 years since the opening of the mosque and 30 years since the liberation of the city of Zavidovići. I want to point out that a woman started this – I am the second woman to lead the city of Zavidovići, and former mayor Selvedina Uljić started the mosque construction project more than 20 years ago. Thanks to her, today we have the opportunity to mark such a significant date – said Mayor Merdić-Smailhodžić.

The Reisul-ulema also attended the Mevlud program in the city mosque, performed by the imams of the Zavidovići Council and guests from Sarajevo: hafiz Nisvet-ef. Omerdić, hafiz Omer-ef. Zulić, and Resul-ef. Alić.

The hosts of the visit were the mufti of Zenica, hafiz prof. dr. Mevludin-ef. Dizdarević, and the chief imam of MIZ Zavidovići, Izet-ef. Čamdžić, who also addressed the audience appropriately during the Mevlud program.

– Our mosques are beacons of Islam, morality, righteousness, and solace for all broken-hearted people – emphasized the mufti of Zenica, hafiz prof. dr. Mevludin-ef. Dizdarević.

He referred to the saying that culture represents the heart of every civilization, that faith and religion are the heart of every culture, and that temples are the heart of every faith.

– That is why every culture that values itself should build and maintain temples, because they are the hearts of our cities – said mufti Dizdarević.

The Reisul-ulema's visit, as the hosts say, reminds of the aforementioned responsibility carried by imams, community members, and all people who strive to live their faith, maintain trust, and mutual respect.

– The Reisul-ulema instructed us to carry the 'bag' we were entrusted with when we received the decree, strongly and responsibly. Furthermore, to ignite love for the mission instilled in us by the madrasa, to bear witness to steadfastness in faith, and to work tirelessly – stated the chief imam of MIZ Zavidovići, Izet-ef. Čamdžić.

During the program, awards were presented to the President of the Council, Husein Zilkić, and the retired imam, Ramiz-ef. Šabić.
