Reisul-ulema to new Hafizes: Our community's path will largely depend on you

(Patria) - You have earned the title of Hafiz, which is not measured by school and academic years, but is reflected in constancy, patience, modesty, and communion with God's word.

Therefore, strive to be sincere in worship, an example in your actions and your relationship with the Community and the society in which you live, said Reisul-ulema Husein-ef. Kavazović at today's promotion of Hafizes who completed their memorization in 2025.

The promotion was held at the Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque in Sarajevo, organized by the Directorate for Religious Affairs of the Riyaset of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Reis expressed words of gratitude to its director, Hafiz Dr. Mensur-ef. Malkić, and the employees who, as he described, diligently oversee the missionary activities of the Islamic Community, especially those related to memorizing the Quran.

- Thanks also to the president and members of the Riyaset's Commission for Hafiz Examinations for their dedicated work.

I extend special thanks to the muhafizes (mentors) who have passed on to you, Hafizes, the love for God's word, the etiquette of reciting the Quran, as well as the value of perseverance, discipline, and morality.

Their role in your success is immeasurable and deeply rooted in our rich heritage - emphasized Kavazović.



In the form of advice, he told the present Hafizes to incorporate the universal values of Islam into their lives and to act according to them.

- You are proof that the Quran is not just a book to be memorized and recited, but a living word to be cherished and lived. A muttaqi (God-conscious person) is one who accounts to dear God, takes care of themselves and everything around them, bringing their life into harmony with the worlds that surround them - emphasized the Reisul-ulema.

He shared with the Hafizes the message of a martyr of the Ummah, who said: "The community that has Allah in its heart, knowledge in its head, and the world in its hands will succeed."

- This means that the community that has the world in its heart, idleness in its head, and faith in its hands, as a means of bargaining, will perish. In the eyes of our people, you are living examples of faith, and our community's path will largely depend on you - said the Reisul-ulema.

He also addressed the parents, saying that their hopes, prayers, patience, and willingness to sacrifice for their children's success are woven into every memorized page of the Quran.

- Our families are oases where this relationship of respect for God's book is most nurtured. Through dedicated Islamic upbringing and the nurturing of our tradition, you preserve this thread of Islam in our Community.

The Prophet, peace be upon him, taught us that faith is reflected in three things - in belief (iman), in action (islam), and in good conduct (ihsan).

It is our duty to raise our children in the spirit and letter of our faith, to build firm trust in God's word, to be active in promoting the values of Islam, and to behave civilly and kindly towards different worlds - reminded Kavazović.

Addressing all the visitors to the program, who showed their respect for the life choices and persistent path of the Hafizes with their presence, the Reisul-ulema said that today we witness not only individual success, but the strength of faith, the importance of institutions, the vitality of a nation, and the richness of a tradition that has been preserved and passed down for centuries in these regions.

- On this occasion, we want to tell our people that investing in knowledge, faith, and upbringing yields the most beautiful fruits and sure success in both worlds.

May the effort and perseverance of these young people be an inspiration to our youth to emulate and follow the principles of the Quran, faith, business, and morality, and a reminder to all of us that without God's word, neither a strong individual nor a stable community can be built - added Reis Kavazović.
