(Patria) - Let us remain vigilant and dedicated to the protection and preservation of our homeland, because attacks on it are a threat to our being – said today the reisul-ulema of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Husein-ef. Kvazović.
Addressing the faithful attending the traditional mevlud at the Tekija on the Buna River, the reisul-ulema reminded that "our open hand on the stećci tombstones says a lot about us, for those who know how to read the signs on the path."
– We wish peace for everyone, but it is also a warning that the line of decency should not be crossed – emphasized the reisul-ulema.
He recalled that important waqf buildings, architectural heritage structures of Bosniaks, were opened in Mostar in previous days, and again warned that the violence and usurpation taking place at the Lakišića harem in Mostar must stop.
– I want to say this here, in front of everyone. That is a red line for every Muslim. The construction of the Mevlana Center is our outstretched hand towards reconciliation and settlement – said the reisul-ulema.
The reisul-ulema also pointed out the importance of the mevlud as a manifestation of unity and an expression of love for the Prophet, peace be upon him. He emphasized that the mevlud is inextricably linked to Muslim tradition in Bosnia and Herzegovina and has accompanied many important moments in the lives of the faithful – from the birth of children to moving into homes and opening mosques.
– We should nurture and develop mevluds, not suppress and abolish them – said the reisul-ulema, stressing the need to preserve this practice.
He reminded of the universal values that the Prophet, peace be upon him, preached – peace, brotherhood, equality, justice and kindness – and called on those present to strengthen them in their lives and relationships with others in this time of crises and challenges.
He sent a message to the faithful to preserve the dignity of others, be gentle in communication, and remain steadfast in the values of faith and culture that teach a person to see God's creation in another.
– I call on all people in our country to listen to God's word, to turn to one another, to respect our neighbor and to rejoice in him. I call on our people to remain calm in their dignity. Let us not be disturbed by the words and insults we hear these days from inhuman people. They speak about themselves, about the cultural and spiritual level they are at. Let us show everyone our values, our learning, openness and uniqueness – said the reisul-ulema.
On this occasion, he thanked everyone who revived the tradition of the mevlud on the Buna River and maintained it all these years.
– First and foremost, we owe this gratitude to Mufti Seid-ef. Smajkić and his successor Mufti Salem-ef. Dedović, but also to our dervishes from the Tariqa Center of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the late Sheikh Sirija-efendija Hadžimejlić and his successor Sheikh Čazim-ef. Hadžimejlić, and to all our good congregation members who, for decades, by their presence, preserved this beautiful tradition of ours, may Allah reward them all for their care and effort – said the reisul-ulema.
On this occasion, the reisul-ulema presented Muftis Smajkić and Dedović, and Sheikh Hadžimejlić, with a recognition for affirmation and contribution to the preservation of the tradition of the Blagaj Prayer Gathering.
