Reisul-ulema led funeral prayer in absentia for Iranian President and his associates

(Patria) - The Reisul-ulema of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Husein-ef. Kavazović, today after the Friday prayer at the Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque in Sarajevo, led the funeral prayer in absentia for the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ebrahim Raisi, the Foreign Minister of that country Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and their associates, who tragically died in a helicopter crash on Sunday, May 19, 2024.

After the funeral prayer, the Ambassador of the Republic of Iran to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Abuzar Ebrahimi Torkaman, expressed his gratitude.

“I take this opportunity to thank all of you for this opportunity to jointly perform the funeral prayer for the esteemed President of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

I especially want to express my gratitude to the esteemed Reisul-ulema (Husein-ef. Kavazović),” said Ambassador Torkaman.

He referred to the message of the late President Raisi for the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which he conveyed to him when taking over his ambassadorial mandate eight months ago.

“When I was with him, I asked if he had any message for the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He told me: ‘Wherever you go, and whoever you meet, say that the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina are our great brothers.’ The Islamic Republic of Iran has always been a brother to Bosnia and Herzegovina,” said Ambassador Torkaman. Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi was buried yesterday in his hometown of Mashhad.

We remind you that the Reisul-ulema sent condolences to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Seyyed Ali Hosseini Khamenei, expressing, among other things, solidarity with the Iranian people in these difficult times.

“Today we mourn with you and your people and pray for the deceased and their families. With prayers to Almighty God to bestow His mercy upon the victims, patience upon their families, and dignity in sorrow to the people of Iran, I sincerely greet you,” wrote Reisul-ulema Kavazović.
