(Patria) - Reisul-ulema of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina Husein-ef. Kavazović hosted a traditional Bayram reception on the occasion of Kurban Bayram this evening in Sarajevo.
The reception was held in the building of the Islamic Community's Riyaset in Kovači, and among the guests were representatives of religious communities, state institutions, the diplomatic corps, and the public, social, and cultural life of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Addressing the attendees, the Reisul-ulema reminded that Kurban Bayram connects Muslims with Ibrahim, peace be upon him, and the values of sacrifice, unity, and mutual responsibility.
- For a Muslim, on the path of competing in good deeds, sacrifice is the very essence of faith. Every day, especially on Bayram, we reiterate the importance of our human unity, based on faith and tradition that we associate with Ibrahim, peace be upon him, and our sharing of joy during the holidays - said Kavazović.
He added that holiday gatherings should be a confirmation of mutual trust and good neighborly relations.
- I deeply believe that our gatherings during the holidays are far more than a matter of protocol. I want to believe that in these moments of joy, we renew our neighborly and brotherly covenant of caring for one another - said the Reisul-ulema.
Speaking about the social situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, he warned of attempts to spread hatred and undermine mutual trust.
- We see how far some are willing to go in uttering insults and spreading hatred to undermine the trust that we, with so much sacrifice and effort, have built after the horrific war and aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina - stated Kavazović.
He conveyed that it is necessary to show wisdom and responsibility and not fall for provocations, but also to clearly oppose the spread of discord among people.
- This does not mean we should remain silent. We must let them know that we will not agree to this and that we will not follow them - the Reisul-ulema stated.
At the end of his address, he expressed hope that "true and Abrahamic unity" will prevail among people, and congratulated all Muslims on Bayram.
The kasida "We are One" performed by Ibrahim Bilčević completed the special atmosphere at the opening of the traditional Bayram reception.
