Reisu-l-ulema of the Islamic Community in BiH Husein ef. Kavazović was on duty at the National Museum of BiH today as part of the "I am the museum" campaign. He stated that the museum's treasure must be preserved, and that Sarajevo, as the capital city, has a special obligation in this regard, reports the Patria news agency.
- I came here and found empty rooms where exhibits that represented the heritage of all of us in BiH, all of our peoples and citizens, once stood. This is a very sad story from the aggression until today. However, the people who work here have shown that they know how to fight for the museum and want to preserve this treasure, which is not seen by those who should actually see and recognize it - said reisu-l-ulema Kavazović after visiting the museum.
Kavazović emphasized that the National Museum of BiH is a state institution and that the state must have responsibility towards it.
- That is why we are here today, of course, to give support, if I may say so, as citizens to our own state. It must recognize the importance of the museum, what has been created here over all past centuries. We are also here to support all these people who appeal to the conscience of all of us", added Kavazović.
He expressed hope that the Council of Ministers of BiH will resolve this problem, although it is evident that there is resistance from the RS.
- Sarajevo has an obligation to preserve the heritage of BiH, the heritage that belongs to all people in the country, regardless of whether someone from some place in BiH wanted or thought it should be different. Sarajevo is the capital of this country and it has an obligation to do so. We, as citizens of BiH, cannot leave this important issue to those who have a different opinion. We must fight for BiH and its heritage, which belongs to all its citizens and peoples - said Kavazović, pointing out that we should preserve the museum treasure, but also show it to children so they can see how diverse life was in BiH.
Regarding the funding model for the National Museum of BiH, reisu-l-ulema Kavazović emphasizes that the state must find a way to resolve this issue.
- This must be funded. How, politicians must find a solution -, concluded Kavazović.
