HDZ BiH Reaction: Transform and Relocate the OHR from BiH

(Patria) - While acknowledging the role of international partners in supporting the stability and development of Bosnia and Herzegovina in its post-conflict and democratic period, HDZ BiH stresses the need for urgent implementation of reform steps on the path towards fulfilling internal and foreign policy priorities and achieving full independence of BiH after more than three decades of active involvement of international factors, the party announced as a reaction to the resignation and departure of High Representative Christian Schmidt.

"Considering that membership in the European Union, which we all strive for, is not compatible with the active international role that still exists in BiH, we point to the necessary transformation of the Office of the High Representative and its relocation from BiH.

Domestic and legitimately elected officials who have gained the trust of the citizens through democratic electoral processes must finally assume full responsibility for Bosnia and Herzegovina, for their homeland," stated the party led by Dragan Čović.

HDZ BiH further emphasizes that the necessary steps can only be achieved through systematic and constructive internal dialogue among political actors, mutual trust and respect, and adherence to the constitutional order of BiH with equal rights for all constituent peoples.

"The path of Bosnia and Herzegovina must be independently and sovereignly built by its citizens and political officials in order to become a stable and secure country with a promising future, in which international factors will provide their assistance, but in which institutions that would be above the institutions of BiH's government will no longer exist," concluded HDZ.
