Tourist arrivals in Sarajevo are growing, as are overnight stays compared to 2025

(Patria) - According to statistical data from the Sarajevo Canton Tourist Board, the trend of increased tourist arrivals and overnight stays in Sarajevo Canton has continued. In April 2026, Sarajevo Canton was visited by 71,797 guests, who realized a total of 161,685 overnight stays. Foreign tourists constitute the dominant share, both in terms of arrivals and overnight stays.

Out of the total number of guests, 59,999 were foreign and 11,798 were domestic tourists. Regarding overnight stays, foreign tourists realized 141,725 overnight stays, while domestic guests accounted for 19,960 overnight stays.

Compared to April 2025, an increase of 4.1% in the total number of guests was recorded. The number of foreign guests increased by 1.0%, while the number of domestic guests recorded a more significant growth of 23%.

The largest number of foreign tourist arrivals in April 2026 were recorded from: Turkey, Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia, Germany, China, USA, Italy, Austria, and Montenegro.

The most foreign overnight stays were realized by tourists from: Turkey, Croatia, Serbia, Germany, Slovenia, USA, China, Great Britain, Montenegro, and Italy.

In the first four months of 2026, Sarajevo Canton was visited by a total of 206,165 guests, who realized 548,020 overnight stays.

Of these, 165,667 were foreign and 40,498 were domestic guests. Foreign tourists realized 458,237 overnight stays, while domestic guests accounted for 89,783 overnight stays.

Compared to the same period in 2025, the total number of guests increased by 4.3%. Growth was also recorded for foreign guests (+1.8%), while domestic tourists recorded a more significant increase of 15.9%. The total number of overnight stays in the period January – April 2026 is 17.4% higher compared to the same period last year. Foreign overnight stays increased by 12.7%, while domestic overnight stays recorded a pronounced growth of 48.6%.
