Workers built "Maglić" for years, and then politics destroyed it overnight

The "Maglić" wood company from Foča employed up to 6,000 workers until the early 1990s, and exported its products to several countries around the world, writes the BH news agency Patria.

During the bloody conflicts in Bosnia and Herzegovina that began in 1992, "Maglić" almost completely halted production. Due to the poor post-war privatization by the Government of the BH entity Republika Srpska, the "Maglić" plants were completely shut down, and the workers were sent to the streets.

Several domestic and foreign investors privatized some of the "Maglić" production plants, but all these companies together today do not employ nearly as many workers as "Maglić" employed until the 1990s. The privatization of many of the company's plants has been assessed as illegal.

The multi-million dollar assets of "Maglić" were sold, and the workers generally did not benefit from that money, writes NAP.
