Workers in the field on Saturday too: Ferhadija Street reconstruction to be completed by the end of July

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Reconstruction works on Ferhadija Street are proceeding according to plan, and more than 40% of the planned area has been paved so far, confirmed Adis Hadžović, assistant head for investments and communal affairs of the Municipality. Workers are in Ferhadija today as well, taking advantage of the good weather for work, as precipitation is forecast for next week.

The works are being carried out on the section of the street from Slatko ćošeta to Stari Grad Pharmacy, near the Cathedral. The replacement of underground installations, tamping, and concrete base in Ferhadija Street have been completed, and the installation and grouting of new 10 cm thick stone slabs are underway.

“Works are proceeding at full steam, with two additional teams as reinforcement. Despite heavy rainfall in May, the works are proceeding according to schedule and will be completed this month,” explained Hadžović, adding that the installations of Elektroprivreda and Sarajevogas, as well as water supply installations and connections, have also been replaced.

The paved section of Ferhadija Street has a slight slope towards the middle of the promenade so that rain or water can drain faster into the sewers.

The rehabilitation of the section of Ferhadija Street, from Slatko ćošeta to Stari Grad Pharmacy near the Cathedral, is a project financed by the Municipality of Stari Grad Sarajevo and the Public Utility Company Roads of Sarajevo Canton, with a value of 789,000 KM. The works cover a street length of 191 meters and an average width of nine meters.

In this way, the entire Ferhadija Street in the Stari Grad municipality section, with a length of 363 meters, will have a uniform appearance, considering that the lower part – from the City Market to Stari Grad Pharmacy – was reconstructed and paved six and seven years ago, respectively.
