(Patria) - Workers of Global Ispat Koksna Industrija Lukavac (GIKIL), as announced, went on a general strike this morning, which will last until their demands are met.
Yesterday, GIKIL workers held a warning strike to try once again to agree with the Management on meeting their demands, payment of salaries, and linking of service.
Namely, employees have not yet received their salaries and hot meals for August, and contributions have been late since March.
On the same day, they had a meeting at the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, but they did not receive a concrete solution to their problems there either, which jeopardizes 800 jobs.
The president of the "Koksara" Workers' Union, Ermin Halilović, said that the company's losses are estimated at more than 100 million KM, and that the current monthly loss is 1.5 million euros.
According to him, the federal Prime Minister Nermin Nikšić and the Minister of Energy, Mining and Industry Vedran Lakić said that it was not within their jurisdiction, but that they would make efforts to contact the Government of Tuzla Canton and solve the problem together.
