SARAJEVO, (Patria) - A group of Aluminija workers from Mostar arrived in front of the FBiH Government building where they will seek aid for the company on the brink of collapse, as well as the prosecution of those who destroyed this once-great aluminum processing giant from Mostar.
Around 150 workers set off this morning from Mostar towards the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Aluminija Director Dražen Pandža announced on Wednesday that the Mostar factory will be shut down at the first minute on Saturday, due to huge debts.
In recent years, Aluminija has been operating at a loss, and the company's total debt amounts to almost 400 million marks, more than half of which is debt for consumed electricity.
President of the Independent Trade Union of Aluminija Workers Rome Biokšić told Patria that the workers in Sarajevo will ask the Government for aid for Aluminija, but also for those responsible for the company's downfall to be prosecuted. Biokšić said that the factory has been in debt for a long time, but that the management of Aluminija continued to take high salaries, hired their own staff in the company, although they offered no results in return.
