(Patria) - The 18th edition of the Race for the Cure race/walk was held in Sarajevo today, with thousands of participants walking or running for those suffering from or cured of breast cancer.
The regional director of the organization dedicated to empowering women's health, Think Pink - Together We Are One, Nela Hasić, was greeted with ovations as she came on stage before the race/walk.
"Thank you all, everyone who registered. This was a difficult and challenging year for our organization, the 18th in a row, but we have met it with all records broken. So, at this moment, more than 12,000 people, and that is not the final number, have registered for the Race for the Cure. More than 250,000 KM has been raised, which will be returned 100 percent to your communities. The money was raised with the help of each of you," said Hasić.
The race/walk included participants from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina, Gradačac, Tuzla, Mostar, Banja Luka, Sarajevo, Brčko, members of diplomatic missions, politicians, actors, celebrities...
Race for the Cure is the largest European sports event for women's health, helping organizations dealing with breast cancer and hospitals raise funds and raise awareness about this disease. Every year in Europe, 500,000 people are diagnosed with breast cancer, and 125,000 lose their lives to this disease, making the funds raised of great importance. Now, more than ever.
