Pušina: BiH lacks patriotism, nothing is built by arson

Former Minister of Interior of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina Jusuf Pušina said in a statement to the Bosnian news agency Patria (NAP) that the riots during the demonstrations in BiH have now shown the public that the security system in our country is not functioning.

For those dealing with security issues, Pušina said, this was clear earlier, but it has now become clear to the citizens of this country as well. This is particularly reflected in crisis situations when various police agencies shift responsibility from one agency to another.

- The security system in BiH is now like a family with no head of the household, where everyone pursues their own policy as they wish. Such a family, it is clear, has no bright future, just as such a security system in our country cannot have a bright future. It must be changed urgently - said Pušina.

According to his words, everyone in BiH must help improve the situation and shed light on the events of February 7, when the symbols of statehood, the BiH flag and the building of the Presidency of BiH, were set on fire.

- Whose jurisdiction is it when someone has a traffic accident and you come across it with your car? Well, of course, you should stop and offer your help. The same reaction is needed when there are much bigger problems in society. Unfortunately, such an attitude was absent during the recent demonstrations when important state property was destroyed - Pušina told NAP.

Commenting on the overall political and economic situation in BiH, Pušina said that there is a lack of dialogue among people, as well as patriotism. Whether patriotism is spent or just temporarily dormant, he says, should be considered in more detail.

- The forms of violence that manifested during the demonstrations are not worthy of everything this country needs. The state is not built by overthrowing the government through arson and destruction. This country needs dialogue between institutions, the restoration of the legal system, as well as the elevation of the political system, which has definitely collapsed. But, in this country, it is also necessary to restart and protect domestic production. How does the state plan to meet the demands of workers if large economic systems are ruined, or if there is no control over the privatization system - says Pušina.
