May Day Manifesto of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of BiH: Our Struggle Showed the Strength of Unity

(Patria) - The Federation of Independent Trade Unions of BiH published a May Day Manifesto on the occasion of International Workers' Day, stating that they proudly and strongly emphasize that they will never give up the fight for workers' rights.

"Our struggle showed the strength of unity, perseverance, and determination. We did not back down from pressure, we did not remain silent when it was hardest, we fought for a minimum wage of 1,000 KM. This is not charity, this is the result of a loud and just struggle for a dignified life for all workers. But we are not stopping there, we are moving forward. Our mission continues," stated the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of BiH.

They added that the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of BiH remains firmly with its members and will work tirelessly to further improve the economic and legal position of workers, because dignity is not a number, but the foundation of every just society.

"We are fighting for every job! Every lost job means less security, less dignity, and less hope for our families. Therefore, we demand that all levels of government seriously focus on creating policies that will prevent workers from leaving Bosnia and Herzegovina. This country must offer an opportunity for a dignified life, here and now," they stated.

They also had a message for employers.

"Employers must understand that workers are not a cost, but partners! With their knowledge, skills, and effort, they ensure the profit and development of companies every day. Only with respect and fair working conditions can there be a stable economy and a healthy society," the May Day Manifesto states.

It is added that this May Day reminds us once again that trade unions must remain united!

"Attempts to divide us, weaken us, and make us invisible must be met with strong and joint resistance. Only by being united and in solidarity can we protect workers' rights and build a future in which every person will live with dignity from their work. On this Labor Day, we say clearly and loudly: A worker is not a disposable commodity! A worker deserves respect, security, and a fair wage! Happy May Day," the May Day Manifesto of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of BiH concluded.
