Elvedin Grabovica, former director of Elektroprivreda BiH and a close friend and business associate of Federal Prime Minister Nermin Nikšić, has received a one-year unpaid leave from the Faculty of Economics in Sarajevo to, according to the official explanation, conduct research and write a book abroad.
“Elvedin Grabovica, an employee of the University of Sarajevo – Faculty of Economics, employed as an associate professor, is granted leave from work without pay (unpaid leave) for the period from 01.03.2026 to 28.02.2027 for the purpose of conducting research and writing a book abroad. The employee is using unpaid leave for the period from 01.03.2026 to 28.02.2027 (return to work on 01.03.2027). During the use of unpaid leave, rights and obligations from the employment relationship are suspended,” states the Decision of the Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Meliha Bašić, reports Istraga.ba
The explanation of the Decision states that Grabovica submitted a request for unpaid leave “for the purpose of conducting research and writing a book abroad, with the aim of meeting the conditions for promotion to a higher rank.”
Elvedin Grabovica suddenly felt the urge for academic advancement after Istraga revealed and published at the beginning of the year that companies owned by him, as subcontractors, received 2.5 million marks in August and November last year, intended for the construction of Corridor Vc. Autoceste Federacije BiH awarded contracts to a Sarajevo-based company, which then immediately signed agreements with companies founded and owned by Elvedin Grabovica, the grey eminence of SDP and a business and close friend of Federal Prime Minister Nermin Nikšić.
The first contract, concluded in August 2025, relates to the “supply of equipment for the Putnikovo Brdo-Medakovo section,” while the second was signed in November and relates to the “supply of equipment for the Nemila-Vranduk tunnel.” The total value of these two contracts is 2.5 million marks. The November contract was awarded to the company Tajenta Split, whose founder and legal representative is Elvedin Grabovica. The value of this contract is one million euros.
The second contract was awarded to the company Meganet Sarajevo, also founded by Elvedin Grabovica. This company is registered at the same address as the company BS Telecom, which, thanks to its connections with Elvedin Grabovica and Federal Prime Minister Nermin Nikšić, receives most of the contracts from Autoceste Federacije BiH. The value of the contract awarded to Meganet is around half a million marks. Incidentally, Haris Nikšić, the son of Federal Prime Minister Nermin Nikšić, was employed at Meganet for years.
According to Istraga’s information, Grabovica has already transferred most of the money from the contracts with Autoceste to Croatia, where he fled to avoid prosecution. There, under the guise of “conducting research and writing a book,” he will stay for the next year.
