First day of Ramadan Bayram on Friday, March 20

(Patria) - According to the Calendar of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the first day of Ramadan Bayram 1447 AH, or 2026, is on Friday, March 20.

Bayram prayer at the Gazi Husrev-bey Mosque in Sarajevo will be performed at 6:29 AM, and the Bayram sermon will be delivered by the Rais al-ulama of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Husein-ef. Kavazović.

Sabah prayer will be performed at 5:15 AM.

The central Bayram ceremony of the Islamic Community in BiH, which will be broadcast live on BHT1 and BIR television, begins at 5:45 AM.

The traditional Bayram greeting at Rais al-ulama Kavazović's residence will be held from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM in the Administrative Building of the Mešihat in Kovači.

The second day of Ramadan Bayram is observed by the Islamic Community as Martyrs' Day, and on this occasion, the central program will be held at the Kovači Martyrs' Cemetery in Sarajevo, starting at 10:00 AM.

The program includes delegations paying tribute and laying flowers at the central plateau, and then at the grave of the first President of the Presidency of BiH, Alija Izetbegović, in the same order.

After that, starting at 10:30 AM, the religious part of the program will follow, organized by the Military Muftiate. Military imams will recite Yasin and short Quranic chapters, and the deputy Rais al-ulama, Prof. Dr. Enes Ljevaković, will recite a supplication.

The protocol includes a speech by the Rais al-ulama of the Islamic Community, Husein-ef. Kavazović, to the attendees afterwards.
