(Patria) - European Council President António Costa will visit the Western Balkan countries next week.
He will begin his regional tour with a visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina on June 1.
In Sarajevo, Costa will hold talks with members of the Presidency of BiH Denis Bećirović, Željko Komšić, and Željka Cvijanović, as well as with the Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers of BiH Borjana Krišto.
The European Council announced that during his visit to the region, Costa will discuss the enlargement of the European Union, the gradual integration of the Western Balkan countries, regional cooperation, security, and stability.
- My second tour of the Western Balkans sends a clear message: the European Union's commitment to the region is real, as is the opportunity for enlargement. The momentum is there. Now is the time for results - Costa stated ahead of the trip.
After Sarajevo, he will travel to Tirana and Skopje, where he will meet with state officials of Albania and North Macedonia.
On June 3, he is scheduled to visit Pristina, and a day later, Belgrade, where he will talk with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and representatives of civil society.
He will conclude his regional tour in Tivat, where on June 5, an EU-Western Balkans summit will be held, which Costa will co-chair.
The central theme of the summit will be "Common Prosperity and Stability of the European Union and the Western Balkans".
