First serious quantity of protective equipment delivered to KS

(Patria) - A delivery of 200,000 protective masks has arrived in Sarajevo Canton, out of a total of 450,000 ordered, based on the Agreement on procurement of medical and sanitary equipment between the KS Government and UNDP, which continues the supply of necessary equipment for medical institutions and citizens, stated KS Prime Minister Mario Nenadić.

This is the first procurement of protective masks, based on this Agreement, for which 800,000 KM was allocated. Of this amount, Sarajevo Canton allocated 500,000 KM, and UNDP secured 300,000 KM. Prime Minister Nenadić emphasized that this is the best procurement model currently, due to the efficiency of the procedure, transparency, and cost-effectiveness, as the mentioned amount from UNDP was added as a donation to the allocated budget funds.

“It is important to emphasize that these are products of a domestic manufacturer. Activities will continue starting tomorrow, with a new batch of protective masks and gloves arriving, and another 250,000 protective masks in the course of next week,” stated Prime Minister Nenadić, emphasizing that Sarajevo Canton will not have problems with the availability of protective equipment for medical workers and citizens.

KS Minister of Health Rusmir Mesihović thanked UNDP on this occasion and stated that these procurements will continue continuously, in order to ensure the necessary equipment for the operation of medical institutions, as well as protective equipment for citizens.

“This is the first serious quantity of protective equipment delivered to KS, based on the Agreement that UNDP has with the Government and the KS Health Insurance Fund. The masks were produced by the domestic company Prevent, which possesses all relevant certifications for the production of protective equipment in this category. In addition to 450,000 of these protective masks, we will procure additional quantities, including protective suits and masks, as well as tests and ventilators, within the framework of the joint Agreement. All of this will start arriving in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in significant quantities next week and will continue in the following weeks continuously, in order to ensure uninterrupted supply of the Canton with necessary equipment, i.e., for healthcare workers, patients, and citizens,” stated Edis Arifagić, Head of UNDP's Local Development Program.
