Teachers' protest on February 14: Message to authorities 'Fall, power and injustice'

(Patria) - Saudim Sivro, president of the Independent Union of Primary Education and Upbringing of the Federation - Cantonal Board of Sarajevo Canton, announced a protest on February 14 in Sarajevo.

He pointed out that "there has never been greater fatigue at the halfway point of the school year".

"These protests will be realized on February 14 this year, in two weeks. We will take to the streets and clearly tell the gentlemen in power the following: Fall, power and injustice. This will happen because we were ready in September to work with children, to nurture and educate. There has never been greater fatigue at the halfway point of the school year, and something that says the Union should not and will not stop," he said.

He added that he has great support from colleagues, as well as from students' parents.

"This morning we already spoke with colleagues in the police about how to successfully realize the protests operationally, at which we expect the presence of more than a thousand workers," Sivro pointed out.

One of the demands, and there are 12 in total, is an increase in the minimum wage by ten percent from January 1, 2024, and an immediate agreement on an increase in wages for non-teaching staff based on performance evaluation, as agreed for workers in administrative bodies.

Sivro emphasized that they will not give up on their demands.

A warning strike was held on January 29, 30, and 31 in all kindergartens of JU Children of Sarajevo and primary schools, lasting from 7:30 AM to 9:30 AM.
