SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Several hundred doctors from the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina will gather at Trg BiH in front of the State Parliament today at 12:00 for peaceful protests demanding changes to the law in order to restore representativeness to the Union of Professional Medical and Dental Associations of the FBiH.
The president of the Union of Professional Medical and Dental Associations of the FBiH, Rifat Rijad Zaid, said that the authorities in the FBiH entity have shown that they "do not want doctors."
"We demand that the Parliament of the FBiH adopt amendments to the Law on Representativeness. We are gathering at Trg BiH, followed by a peaceful march to the Parliament of the FBiH with the request that the cantonal governments in Tuzla and Sarajevo, as well as the Government of the FBiH, restore representativeness," Zaid said.
If the requested changes are not made, a general strike will be organized.
Since their representativeness has not been recognized, this union cannot sign a new collective agreement, leaving the labor and legal status of several hundred doctors unresolved.
