(Patria) - On this day, April 22, 2007, an unprecedented and horrific tragedy occurred in Sarajevo.
Six youngest residents of the "Bjelave" Children's Home died in a fire in the Baby Department, while 18 were injured.
On that fateful day, Medina Bostandžija, Al'dina-Dalal Akmadžić, Amina Čustović, Džemal Šabanović, Faik Krasnići, and Damir Pejanović lost their lives.
The fire, which spread to two children's rooms and was caused by a lit heater, broke out around 5:30 AM.
Twenty children born in 2006 and 2007 were sleeping in the rooms at the time. The victims of this fire were buried at the Vlakovo cemetery.
The "Bjelave" Home, formerly the "Ljubica Ivezić" Home, has been operating since 1946 and houses children without parental care.
