
The Council of Ministers of BiH today in Sarajevo, at the second session in its new composition, adopted the Analysis of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations on the foreign trade exchange of Bosnia and Herzegovina for 2014, which states that the total volume of foreign trade exchange last year amounted to 24.88 billion KM, which is 1.33 billion KM or 5.66 percent more compared to the previous year, reports the Patria News Agency.
Last year, goods worth 16.20 billion KM were imported, which is 6.78 percent more compared to the previous year, while total exports grew by 3.62 percent and amounted to 8.68 billion KM. The trade deficit in 2014 amounted to 7.52 billion KM, which is 10.69 percent more compared to 2013.
- The European Union remains our main foreign trade partner and participates with 63.55 percent in the total volume of goods exchange, followed by countries signatories to the "CEFTA 2006" agreement with a share of 12.95 percent, while 23.51 percent relates to other countries in the total volume of exchange - it was announced from the Council of Ministers.
Among the main trade partners, individually, we have the largest coverage of imports by exports with Austria at 142.04 percent, Slovenia at 91.42 percent, Italy at 72.43 percent, Germany at 70.47 percent, Croatia at 51.58 percent, Serbia at 49.14 percent, and Turkey at 40.27 percent.
The largest exports were to the following countries: Germany, Italy, Croatia, Serbia, Austria, Slovenia, Montenegro, Turkey, Hungary, and Switzerland. Exports to these countries account for 75.97 percent of total BiH exports. At the same time, the largest imports were from Germany, Croatia, Italy, Serbia, China, Russia, Slovenia, Turkey, Austria, and the USA. Imports from these countries in 2014 accounted for 74.13 percent of total BiH imports.
The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations will report quarterly to the Council of Ministers of BiH on BiH's foreign trade exchange, in order to act in a timely manner and take measures to enable positive trends in this area.
