Celebrated BiH footballers Smajić and Topić offered to take over Zenica's Čelik

Celebrated Bosnian-Herzegovinian footballers Admir Smajić and Marko Topić have offered to help Zenica's Čelik, which has been struggling with financial problems in recent years. They offered expert coaching assistance, writes Patria.

Smajić and Topić were received on Wednesday by the Mayor of Zenica, Fuad Kasumović. After the meeting with Smajić and Topić, he told the fans that he would do everything to ensure that the symbol of Zenica, Čelik, remains in the Premier League of BiH.

Smajić played for Partizan, Neuchatel Xamax, Basel, and Young Boys, and made four appearances for the Yugoslavian national team. He also played two matches for the BiH national team. He coached Young Boys, Yverdon-Sport, and Sion. In 1999, Smajić was also the coach of the BiH U21 national team, and later an assistant to Blaž Slišković when he was in charge of the Dragons.

Topić is also a celebrated BiH footballer. He started his career in Switzerland, played for Croatian Varteks, AC Milan, played for Austria Vienna and German clubs Energie Cottbus and VfL Wolfsburg. In 2005, he moved to the Russian club Krylya Sovetov. In 2008, he became a player for FK Saturn, writes Patria.
