Prosinečki announces national team squad, Begović not called up

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Bosnia and Herzegovina national football team head coach Robert Prosinečki has announced the squad for the UEFA Nations League matches against Northern Ireland and Austria.

Asmir Begović, who was the first-choice goalkeeper for our national team in the previous qualifiers, is not on the list for the September matches.

Prosinečki could not count on Begović in the friendly matches against Bulgaria, Senegal and South Korea, which apparently bothered the coach, who this time did not include him on the squad at all.

- I did not call up Begović for two reasons. We had trips to Bulgaria where he had problems, later we traveled to South Korea where he said he could not come again, and that is why I did not call him up, but that does not mean I will not call him again. It was not an easy situation because he is a good goalkeeper, but this is a sign that we must respect the national team.

We all had to go to South Korea, even injured players went even though they knew they would not play. I spoke with Begović, I will speak with him again. He gave me some reasons that are big for him, but for me they are small, but that is his choice. I want order to be known, we have created a great atmosphere - explained Bosnia and Herzegovina head coach Robert Prosinečki.

The squad includes:

Goalkeepers: Vedran Kjosevski (Željezničar), Ibrahim Šehić (Erzurumspor), Kenan Pirić (Maribor)

Defence: Darko Todorović (Salzburg), Ognjen Vranješ (Anderlecht), Toni Šunjić (Dinamo Moscow), Ermin Bičakčić (Hoffenheim), Ervin Zukanović (Genoa), Eldar Ćivić (Sparta Prague), Bojan Nastić (Genk)
