SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The national football team of Bosnia and Herzegovina will play its third match in the Nations League on Monday at the Grbavica Stadium. The opponent is the selection of Northern Ireland.
Our team has recorded as many as two victories in the first two rounds. We defeated Northern Ireland away in Belfast 2:1, while we celebrated against Austria 1:0 in Zenica.
- Certainly, these second qualifications for the European Championship are more important. This is important for our team, especially since we are first. With first place, you can enter Group A and play with the best teams. This is a very important and significant match for us. If we can be first in the group, we will gladly accept it – said the coach of our national team, Robert Prosinečki, at the beginning of tonight's press conference.
Prosinečki added that the friendly match against Turkey three days ago was beneficial for our players, and he emphasized that he already knows the lineup that will start the match against the Irish.
- The match with Turkey was beneficial for us. Some players with little playing time and who are not in the spotlight got their chance. All in all, I am satisfied with what we showed in Turkey. I know the starting lineup. Tomorrow, the guys who will give their all will play. We will have a different match than in Belfast. They also came to win, it will be a different match, and certainly a difficult one – concluded Prosinečki.
Regarding the goalkeeper position, when asked who will play, Prosinečki said that Šehić has an advantage over Begović.
- Šehić has the advantage, and we should all be happy and satisfied that we have two goalkeepers. We know what Asmir has done, Šeha has shown quality in the last few matches, and I hope he will continue like that. Šehić will play tomorrow, unless something happens at tonight's training – Robert Prosinečki said at the end of the press conference.
The captain of the Dragons, Edin Džeko, expects a difficult match.
- I think they are used to playing every three days and I don't think they are tired. I am certainly used to the same rhythm. The match will be quite difficult, this time we are playing in front of our fans, but we can certainly win – said Džeko.
Regarding the return to Grbavica, the Diamond says.
- Records are there to be broken. I am sure someone will break my record too. The dream of all young players is to play for their country. As long as the coach wants me, I will be here. But the time will probably come when I will retire. The feeling is different playing at Grbavica than at some other stadium, for me who started my career here. Grbavica is really beautiful. The management of the Blues, together with the Association, has built a beautiful stadium. I hope we will record a victory in the first match at the "new Grbavica" – said Džeko.
Džeko added at the end that he dreams of playing in the European Championship.
- We played in the World Cup, we all know what that meant for this country. We would love to go to the European Championship, and whether that will be my farewell from the national team jersey, I don't know – said the record holder for the number of appearances in the national team and the top scorer in the history of our national team, with a smile at the end.
The players of Bosnia and Herzegovina have completed their last training session at the Grbavica stadium before tomorrow's duel with Northern Ireland in the 4th round of the Nations League.
The atmosphere in our team is great. All players trained, there are no injury problems, and coach Prosinečki has also chosen a possible lineup.
The Dragons will most likely take the field tomorrow in the lineup: Šehić, Todorović, Šunjić, Vranješ, Ćivić, Bešić, Sarić, Pjanić, Duljević, Višća, Džeko.
