Prosinečki: BiH has a quality national team that can achieve a good result

The new coach of the BiH national football team, Robert Prosinečki, arrived in Sarajevo today where he signed a contract with the BiH FA, officially taking over the coaching position.

- I received a lot of calls in these two days. I hope we will cooperate well. I will give my best for BiH to go to the European Championship. I received congratulations from the national team players, I wouldn't mention names. Mostly positive. I had some nice congratulations – said the new coach of the BiH national team.

Prosinečki is already expecting a tour of the United States at the end of the month, where the BiH national team will play friendly matches against the USA and Mexico.

- Most likely, these will be players from the U21 national team and the Premier League. We will also talk to the U21 national team coach these days. That's why I came, to see which players they are. It will be very soon, in a few days, so we will announce the list of all players who will get a chance. Some new players and some who have been here before – says Prosinečki.

Prosinečki emphasized that he has already spoken with Vedad Ibišević and Senad Lulić, who had previously announced the end of their national team careers.

- I hope we will persuade them to return. They are at an age where they can still give a lot – added Žuti.

The new coach emphasized that he believes he can achieve the planned goal with our national team, which is qualifying for the European Championship.

- My professional staff and I believe that Bosnia has a super-talented national team with which it can achieve results. Wherever I worked, there were no old or young players for me. Only those who are good. We will follow the domestic league, surely we will be there. But of course, those players who play abroad and are leaders of the national team must be there – said the new coach of the BiH national team.

- The new coach emphasized that he greatly respects the legend of BiH football, Ivica Osim, who was his coach in the national team of the former Yugoslavia.

- I believe that the fact that I got the job ahead of Amar will not disrupt my relationship with Ivica. I have been on very good terms with him since my playing days. I made my debut in Yugoslavia under him. He changed our perspective on football and introduced a special football philosophy. The fact that I beat Amar are things that happen in life and in this job.

Robert Prosinečki's first assistants in the national team's professional staff will be his collaborators from his previous work, Dragan Spasić and Gordan Ciprić, while former BiH national team players Elvir Rahimić and Kenan Hasagić as goalkeeper coach should also work in the professional staff.

Robert Prosinečki was born in 1969 in Villingen, Germany, and during his playing career, he played for Dinamo Zagreb, Red Star Belgrade, Real Madrid, Oviedo, Barcelona, Sevilla, Dinamo again, Hrvatski dragovoljac, Standard, Portsmouth, Olimpija Ljubljana, Zagreb, and Savski Marof.

The job of the coach of the BiH national team will be his fourth coaching assignment in his career. He first worked as an assistant in the Croatian national team, then coached Red Star Belgrade, Turkish Kayserispor, and in the previous World Cup qualifiers, he worked as the coach of Azerbaijan.
