Postage stamp 'Hajdar-dedina Mosque and Prayer Site in Karići' promoted

(Patria) - As part of the traditional event 'Days of Bosnian Spirituality - Karići 2023', a promotion of the postage stamp 'Hajdar-dedina Mosque and Prayer Site in Karići' was held tonight in the lobby of the Main Post Office in Sarajevo.

BH Post has included this motif in its special edition postage stamps as a tribute to the symbols of history, tradition and customs of the Muslims of this region.

Mufti of Sarajevo, Prof. Dr. Nedžad Grabus, who was also the initiator for this motif to appear on the stamp, thanked BH Post for its efforts, through its social responsibility, to preserve the values of tradition and customs.

'We are happy to attend an important event today for the Sarajevo Muftiship and, of course, the Islamic Community. In the coming period, we will strive to explain the importance of this prayer site for the intangible cultural heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

On the preliminary list I had the opportunity to see, unfortunately, the mosque and prayer site in Karići, which represent a centuries-old tradition of prayer in the area of Vareš and its surroundings, were not included on that list.

In this way, we will try to bring the Hajdar-dedina Mosque and Prayer Site in Karići closer to the wider Bosnian public and promote this idea to the world,' emphasized Mufti Grabus.

Director of BH Post, Mirsad Mujić, recalled the activities of the public enterprise he represents, stating that they are particularly proud of issuing postage stamps.

He emphasized that by adding the Hajdar-dedina Mosque and Prayer Site in Karići to the motifs of postage stamps, they aim to preserve the cultural and historical heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina from oblivion.

'In addition to our regular activities of providing postal services, an important and dear activity for us is issuing postage stamps. In this way, we promote our natural and cultural beauties, significant dates and personalities for all peoples living in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Postage stamps speak about our past, present and future,' said Mujić.

During the program, guests were presented with the first copies of the stamp issue. The postage stamp 'Hajdar-dedina Mosque and Prayer Site in Karići' was printed in 10,000 copies, with nine stamps per sheet, and the nominal value of the stamp is 1.10 KM.

BH Post also issued a special FDC envelope in a print run of 150 copies, each valued at 2 KM. The author of the stamp is BH Post designer Abdulah Branković, and the postage stamp can be found at counters or online, on BH Post's PostShop.
