Program for Marking the 30th Anniversary of the Srebrenica Genocide Should Be Finalized by the End of February

(Patria) - The second meeting of the Organizing Committee for marking the 30th anniversary of the genocide against Bosniaks in the "UN Safe Area" Srebrenica from July 1995 was held today at the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The meeting discussed the activities carried out so far and preparations for marking the 30th anniversary of the genocide.

Hamdija Fejzić, President of the Organizing Committee, thanked members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Bećirović and Željko Komšić, for their contribution to preserving the memory of the genocide and for their participation in the organization and preparations for marking the 30th anniversary of the genocide.

- It is important that the meetings are held in the building of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina. On this occasion, we thank Denis Bećirović and his team, who are always at our disposal.

We are familiar with the activities carried out by the Coordination Committee formed by the member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Bećirović, and we are working in sync on the preparations for the 30th anniversary of the genocide.

We have started preparations for marking the 30th anniversary of the genocide, and there is a lot of work ahead of us. We must all be aware of the responsibility that comes with marking the 30th anniversary of the genocide.

All subcommittees have started working and preparing activities. Today, we also adopted the Draft Program for marking the 30th anniversary of the genocide.

We have left room for possible additions and suggestions, and we expect to adopt the final program for marking the 30th anniversary of the genocide by the end of February - Fejzić emphasized.

He once again thanked all those who in any way contribute to the organization and remembrance of July 11, 1995, and the genocide against Bosniaks in the "UN Safe Area" Srebrenica, and reminded that the Organizing Committee is the only body responsible for organizing and marking the anniversary of the genocide.

- Unfortunately, there are also those who try to act outside the Organizing Committee and derive some benefit for themselves - Fejzić stated.

According to information from the Institute for Missing Persons of Bosnia and Herzegovina, two victims of the genocide have been identified so far, for whom a funeral prayer and burial will be held on July 11, 2025.
