Extension of detention for 'foreign' fighters

(Patria) - The prosecutor from the Department for Terrorism within the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption has submitted a proposal to the Court of BiH for the extension of detention for the suspect Dunić Muharem, born in 1974 in Jajce.

The mentioned suspect is under investigation by the Department for Terrorism and is accused of having stayed in Syria for a longer period, where he joined the structures of the so-called "ISIL", which has been declared a terrorist organization by the UN Security Council.

The measure of detention has been requested for the reasons described in Article 132, Paragraph 1, points a), b), c), and d) of the Criminal Procedure Code of BiH, namely due to the risk of the suspect absconding, the risk that he might influence witnesses or accomplices if at liberty, the risk that he might commit a new criminal offense or complete an ongoing one if at liberty, as well as due to the circumstances of the commission of the criminal offense, where releasing the suspect at liberty would cause public unrest and alarm among citizens.

The proposal for the extension of the detention measure has been submitted to the Court of BiH, and the court has accepted it.
