Detention of former minister Nenad Nešić extended for another two months

(Patria) - Deciding on the proposal of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the extension of detention, in the case of Esad Avdić and others, the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina issued a decision on 20.3.2025, partially accepting the proposal of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH and extending the detention of the suspect Nenad Nešić for the next two months, i.e., until 20.5.2025, or until a new court decision, due to the existence of a special detention ground prescribed by Article 132, paragraph 1, point b) of the Criminal Procedure Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CPC BiH), the Court of BiH announced.

We recall, the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina submitted a proposal on 19.03.2025 for the extension of the detention measure against the suspect Nenad Nešić for the next 3 (three) months, due to the existence of the detention ground from Article 132, paragraph 1, point b) of the CPC BiH.

The suspects in the case of Esad Avdić and others are charged with committing the criminal offenses of Organizing a Group for the Purpose of Committing Criminal Offenses under Article 249 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CC BiH), Money Laundering under Article 209 of the CC BiH, Abuse of Office or Official Authority under Article 315 of the Criminal Code of the Republika Srpska (CC RS), Abuse of Office or Official Authority under Article 383 of the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CC FBiH), and Receiving Bribes under Article 319 of the CC RS, Avaz reports.

An appeal against this decision does not stay its execution. An appeal against this decision is allowed to the Appellate Chamber of this Court within 3 (three) days from the day of receipt of the decision.
