Another week passes, and Gavrankapetanović has not been appointed: Waiting for Rimac again, is the FBiH Government even interested!?

(Patria) - Ismet Gavrankapetanović has still not been appointed to the position of director of the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo, although it was announced that Gavrankapetanović could be appointed on Monday, April 1. However, at a telephone session held this week, the case of Gavrankapetanović was not even mentioned.

As we were told, the appointment should not even be the subject of a new discussion in the FBiH Government, which on March 28 sent a request to the KCUS Management Board to submit an act and request prior consent regarding the appointment of Dr. Gavrankapetanović, because a technical error was made in previous letters.

But this consent must again be given by Health Minister Nediljko Rimac, who previously refused to give consent for the appointment of Gavrankapetanović, even though he was the top-ranked candidate.
The KCUS Management Board adopted a new act and a request for consent regarding the doctor's appointment was sent.

Thus, it was expected that the FBiH Government, specifically the Ministry of Health, would give consent this week for the appointment of the top-ranked candidate, i.e., Prof. Dr. Ismet Gavrankapetanović, but the week passed and the appointment did not happen.

Earlier, the Federal Ministry of Health informed the Management Board of the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo that it does not give consent to the appointment of Prof. Dr. Ismet Gavrankapetanović as General Director of KCUS, due to 'incomplete documentation', and that he does not meet the formal requirements - he lacks a diploma in managerial qualifications.

This saga has been ongoing since December 29, 2023, when this ministry received a request from the KCUS Management Board for consent to the Decision on the selection of Gavrankapetanović as General Director of KCUS. But to this day, four months later, there is no appointment of a general director.

Incidentally, after the departure of Sebija Izetbegović, the acting director of KCUS is Dr. Alen Pilav.
Many have perceived this story as a new silent conflict between NIP and SDP, because the team gathered around Nikšić is not happy that Gavrankapetanović will take the position of general director, if he ever gets consent at all.
