A few hours before the important match against Bosnia and Herzegovina, unexpected problems have emerged in the Swiss camp. Coach Murat Yakin fell ill during his stay in California, and Swiss media report that his presence on the bench for tonight's match is still uncertain.
Bosnia and Herzegovina and Switzerland play their second group stage match of the World Cup tonight at 9 PM. The match is being played in Inglewood, near Los Angeles. Both teams earned one point in the first round, so the duel carries great significance in the fight for advancement to the next phase of the competition.
The Swiss enter the match under additional pressure after disappointing in their tournament opener with a draw against Qatar (1:1), a result that surprised many. As if that were not enough, the team is now also facing off-field problems.
According to information reported by the Swiss newspaper 20 Minuten, Yakin did not feel well during the previous night. He was reportedly hit by a virus that prevented him from resting properly, and his health condition has caused concern within the national team.
The Swiss media outlet notes that a potential absence of the coach would represent a serious handicap for the national team ahead of one of the key group stage matches.
Interestingly, this is not the first time Yakin has experienced such issues during his stay in California. He had similar health difficulties at the end of last year when he, together with a delegation from the Swiss Football Association, was touring potential locations for the national team's preparations ahead of the World Cup.
