What else needs to happen for us to finally turn to expertise and competence instead of ethnic quotas, party affiliation, and family ties? Or, what needs to happen for the public interest, which has nothing to do with parties and individuals, to become a hierarchical priority to which all others will be subordinated? It is difficult for me to even think, let alone write, but... perhaps – our already decimated human medical resources – could get infected or come into contact with infected individuals and be prescribed self-isolation or, God forbid, people start dying en masse?
If it wasn't clear before, it should be clear now, even to the biggest political blind men and those fixated on their ethnic fiefdoms and circles of income and judicial havens – that the only interest, the ethnic one, has begun to have a deadly impact on the entire country. In this regard, the appointment of an idiot should be considered a criminal act, not a national interest, and their dismissal a life-saving measure, not a political showdown.
It is clear that unnatural politics uses every situation to achieve similar interests, to try to place police on administrative lines and make them borders, to try to declare autonomy in at least one canton, that in Canton Sarajevo everyone is – thank God – well and healthy (which we wish them too) even though every night between 50 and 100 potential serial or, God forbid, mass murderers are walking freely, and one-third of those tested are infected. One almost wishes for those 150,000 tests at one price or 30,000 tests at another price (at what price exactly?!) to arrive and for normal, not "rational" testing to begin, because in that case, we might get a real – not false – picture of the infection, and then someone careless – unaware that they themselves could suddenly get infected – might start asking questions not about expertise and competence, but about responsibility. It is equally clear that it is of vital importance for the politically powerful who are personally interested and involved in the "real sector" that the "dripping" from the budget does not stop, even if there is no budget left, and they ensure that a portion of the salaries of budget users is reserved because "if an ordinary person can live on (the average salary), why shouldn't they..." without considering that 10% of 4800 is not the same as 10% of 900 KM.
I would gladly write that the least and most moral thing the prime minister could do in this situation would be to abolish the privileges of politically appointed individuals, reduce them to the average level, and redirect that money as aid to those who are left or have long been without jobs and any income... but the prime minister must think about the budget, not the poor. Not even about the 42 specialist doctors, 648 nurses with secondary vocational education and 66 nurses with higher vocational education. There are 128 laboratory technicians (secondary vocational education) and 69 (higher vocational education), 123 sanitary technicians, and 508 physiotherapists with secondary and higher vocational education, 174 gynecological nurses, 94 radiology engineers (essential medical personnel whom we are, again, lacking) who are currently registered with the Employment Service of Sarajevo Canton.
Speaking of the budget, two decisions of the Council of Ministers made at an extraordinary session held on March 24 in Sarajevo, one on the Draft Law on the Budget of BiH Institutions and International Obligations of BiH for 2020, which was adopted with seven votes "for" and three votes "against" (could they possibly be bigger idiots and vote against a budget from which they will also take as much as they can?), and the second on the temporary closure of international border crossings for air traffic for passengers in BiH, but only from March 30, and that "at the request of the federal side, because flights for passenger traffic are announced until Friday, which will bring the appropriate type of medical supplies, primarily tests." By that date, and as of the date of adoption of that Decision, federal sanitary inspectors at border crossings in FBiH had issued a total of 17,002 decisions on placing passengers/individuals under health supervision/restricted movement/isolation for a period of 14 days, but the airports are closing in six days, and because of "passenger flights carrying medical supplies"?!
Ultimately, it is clear to us that in a country where (as someone said) there are more ministers than ventilators, it is quite normal that (as someone else said) the crisis headquarters falls into a crisis in the midst of a crisis period, that fifty-year-olds are elderly people, and that there are tests for the dead but not for the (still) living... But, is it possible that the crisis, the virus, and the pandemic are trivial, incidental, and lower-priority problems compared to the politics of lies, deception, and clumsy concealment of the truth, in which the relations between "natural partners" resemble unnatural fornication more than partnership, let alone anything natural?
