Members of the Armed Forces of BiH at the international military exercise “Immediate Response 19”

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - A unit of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina is participating in the international military exercise “Immediate Response 19”, which is being held from May 21 to June 7, 2019, at military training grounds in the Republic of Croatia and the Republic of Hungary.

After months of preparation, the final phase of which was held at the combat training ground in Manjača, members of the 2nd Company of the 2nd Battalion of the 6th Infantry Brigade of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina were dispatched from the “Adil Bešić” barracks in Bihać on May 20 for the large international exercise “Immediate Response 19”.

The large international exercise “Immediate Response 19”, held at the Slunj training ground in Croatia and the Kaposvar military base in Hungary, is planned and directed by the United States European Command (USEUCOM), with a focus on training forces from A-5 initiative member countries.

Approximately 1,600 members from 15 countries are participating in the exercise, including the armed forces of Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary, Albania, Montenegro, Kosovo*, the USA, Poland, France, and the United Kingdom, Lithuania, North Macedonia, Italy, and Germany, among them members of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina have engaged 20 vehicles for this exercise, 17 of which are specialized HUMVEE vehicles for transporting infantry units performing regular tasks at designated training grounds.

Already today, May 23, units at the Slunj training ground were executing complex tactical tasks in accordance with the missions defined through the Operational Order. The present guests were presented with the mobility capabilities of the units in a multinational environment through the execution of convoy operations.

The unit's preparations and training were demanding and strenuous, and the participation of the BiH Armed Forces unit is an opportunity for the BiH Armed Forces to demonstrate their level of training, qualification, and interoperability with other exercise participants in an international environment.
