
(Patria) - Members of the Border Police of BiH, on November 2, 2023, during regular and enhanced activities to prevent illegal migration, prevented the smuggling of 38 persons at the Orašje International Border Crossing.
The smuggling was discovered on two occasions during border control. At the Orašje IBC, a truck-tractor of the make Iveco and a semi-trailer of the make Schmitz with BiH license plates, driven by N. Č., a citizen of BiH, was inspected. During the inspection of the cargo area, 13 citizens of the People's Republic of China and seven citizens of the Republic of Turkey were found. At the same crossing, a truck-tractor of the make Man and a semi-trailer of the make Schmitz, driven by B. S., a citizen of BiH and a citizen of the Republic of Serbia, was inspected. During the inspection of the cargo area, 18 citizens of the People's Republic of China were found.
Due to reasonable suspicion of the criminal offense of People Smuggling under Article 189 of the Criminal Code of BiH, the duty prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH was informed, and upon their order, the suspects were deprived of liberty. The smuggled persons were handed over to the Service for Foreigners' Affairs for further processing. Activities on the case continue.
The Border Police will continue with enhanced activities in the coming period, in accordance with the law, to combat illegal migration, investing all available resources in the protection of the state border.
