Transporters receive promises from Nikšić and then decide to remove trucks

(Patria) - FBiH Prime Minister Nermin Nikšić held a meeting today in Sarajevo with representatives of the Consortium Logistika BiH.

They discussed resolving demands and the current situation in the international transport sector, as well as the difficulties faced by domestic transporters.

After the meeting, representatives of the Consortium announced that they are ending the road blockades they started yesterday morning.

They expressed gratitude to Nikšić for his understanding and the measures taken regarding the resolution of their demands, especially in the context of the FBiH Government's support in the process of adopting the regulation on excise duty refunds, then for the introduction of a common tag for more favorable use of the highway network in BiH, and the introduction of inspections at border crossings with the aim of speeding up border crossings and the transport of goods.

Nikšić emphasized that transporters will have the support of the Federation Government in resolving all demands that can be fulfilled within the competence of domestic institutions.

- This is our second meeting. We discussed all the problems they have. Of course they have our support, although these demands are within the competence of the BiH Council of Ministers. On Thursday, at the session of the Government of the Federation of BiH, we will support the demands that are within the domain of the FBiH Government.

Today, Prime Minister Višković and I discussed harmonizing our positions and sending unified positions to the BiH Council of Ministers as support from the entity governments.

I am glad that parliamentarians at the state level are also getting involved, and for our part, we will truly continue cooperation and work on solving the problem - Nikšić said after the meeting.

President of the Consortium Logistika BiH, Mirsad Durmić, expressed gratitude to everyone who supported the transporters.

- Everything that was a demand of 50 company owners last night and what our expectations were regarding Prime Minister Nikšić has been agreed upon. At the same time, I want to thank everyone who supported us in this struggle of ours, but also to apologize to those to whom we unintentionally caused any damage during these two days.

We hope they will understand us. I think we can be happy and satisfied today that we managed to get promises and enter the process of solving the problem, but at the same time to remove the trucks and return to normal life, so that everyone does their job.

The blockade can be said to be suspended from this moment; we will now inform coordinators in all regions to withdraw vehicles and restore normal traffic - said Durmić.

Representatives of the Consortium also stated that the state ministers of foreign affairs, and transport and communications, have been actively involved in finding ways to solve the transporters' problems over the past two days, and that they contributed at the level of the BiH Council of Ministers.

The interlocutors agreed that cooperation will continue through regular communication, in order to ensure a sustainable solution to the problem for the benefit of the transport sector and the overall economy in our country.
