(Patria) - Milorad Dodik from Budapest stated that the Republika Srpska will fight for its rights through political means, but that "any imposition will lead to a decision on independence."
At a joint press conference with Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto, Dodik thanked Hungary for, as he put it, "attention and understanding," emphasizing that without their support, the RS would face even greater problems.
"I informed the minister that German citizen Christian Schmidt came to seize property and mineral resources. If things take an unfavorable turn, we will very quickly decide on the independence of the Republika Srpska," Dodik threatened.
He stated that he was "forced into this due to the injustice imposed on the Serbian people," adding that Bosnia and Herzegovina has been "a failed state from the start, imposed by the will of distant offices."
He accused the Brussels and Biden administrations of destroying the Dayton Agreement and of "attempting to overthrow democratically elected leaders through the courts." He added that the RS is under occupation because Brussels tolerates the abolition of democracy.
"The OHR was supposed to last one year, and it has been going on for three decades. It is time to end its role," Dodik said, once again thanking Hungary for its "firm stance."
During the day, Dodik, together with Hungarian officials, will attend the event "Serbian Days – Month of Serbian Culture" in Budapest.
