Reception and Award for "Golden Volleyball Players"

A reception was held at the Municipality of Centar Sarajevo for the national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina in sitting volleyball, who won the European Championship title for the ninth time at the competition held in the German city of Warendorf, reports the Patria News Agency.  

The reception at the Municipality of Centar was attended by advisor Mustafa Resić on behalf of Mayor Dževad Bećirević, as well as the President of the Centar Municipal Council Prof. Dr. Nedžad Ajnadžić and Deputy President of the Council Slaven Kovačević, along with municipal councilors Velija Katica, Haris Fazlagić, Senad Alić, Zora Ostojić, Amer Kapo, Suvad Kerla, Mirza Zeković, and Ahmed Gerin.

"Golden Volleyball Players" were welcomed on behalf of the Centar Municipal Council and Mayor Bećirević, as well as the municipal administration, by President Ajnadžić, who congratulated them on this significant achievement and previous successes.

- On the occasion of winning the European Championship title, Mayor Bećirević, upon the proposal of the Municipal Council, decided that the Municipality will award the BiH national team in sitting volleyball 5,000 KM, and we will strive to support the activities you undertake within our capabilities through the budget – said Ajnadžić, adding that their effort and top results should be continuously included in the financial code in the budgets of all levels of government.

The coach of the national team, Mirza Hrustemović, thanked the Municipality of Centar for the reception and support.

- I did not expect such a reception, and this symbolism brought me back to our beginnings, which started in this municipality. After the war, the idea was, regardless of the difficult situation, for disabled sports to take its place, and the first disabled sports club "Spid" (Džidžikovac 3) was formed. The symbolism of that building in Džidžikovac is significant because it gathered everything related to the achievements of the struggle in World War II, and such a tradition continued after the last war. That building now houses the headquarters of veterans' associations – war invalids, Golden Lilies, Amputee Association... For this reason, I am especially pleased that the Municipality of Centar has been with us from the very beginning during the most crucial events. Today, we can boast that we have 30 clubs, three leagues, and all possible championships won consecutively, and we are a kind of brand abroad. It wasn't easy, but we are an example that the impossible is possible. Thank you to the Municipality of Centar, and I hope we will continue to achieve good results – emphasized Hrustemović.

On behalf of all national team members, captain Sabahudin Delalić thanked them at the reception and added that he regrets that other municipalities do not invite the entire national team.

- We will certainly not falter and will continue with our successes. Next year, the Paralympic Games await us, for which we will certainly prepare well and try to defend our title. It is no coincidence that all three titles in BiH, European, World, and Paralympic, are held by us. We will strive to justify the trust of the citizens, as everyone expects gold. I hope that the Municipality of Centar will continue to support this sport in the future, as one of the strongest local communities in BiH that has been with us since the very beginning, around 1995 – emphasized Delalić, as announced by the Municipality of Centar.
