27 years ago, the flag of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina with lilies was raised in front of the UN building in New York

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The flag of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina with six lilies, adopted on May 4, 1992, was officially presented for the first time on May 22, 1992, when it was raised on the flagpole in front of the UN building in New York.

On that day, Bosnia and Herzegovina became a member of the United Nations (Resolution 757), thereby, as the successor of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (SFRY), becoming a contracting party to all conventions and agreements that the SFRY had ratified up to that point.

BiH participates in the work of the United Nations through its permanent missions in New York, Geneva, Vienna, and at UNESCO in Paris.

Bosnia and Herzegovina committed to the United Nations to monitor and actively participate in resolving international crises through UN bodies of which BiH is a member. Simply put, from an object of international politics, BiH gradually becomes an active participant in solving international problems, NAP writes.

The flag with lilies was in use until February 1998, when it was replaced by the current flag of BiH, blue with a yellow triangle and white stars.
