The United States of America (USA) recognized the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina as an independent state 23 years ago today, writes the Patria News Agency.
The US was then one of the first countries to recognize the independence and territorial integrity of BiH. On the same day they recognized BiH, April 7, 1992, the US also recognized Croatia and Slovenia.
America, along with the European Community (EC), played a key role in the process of recognizing the political subjectivity and preserving the territorial integrity of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In addition to American troops contributing to peace in BiH, numerous American officials advocated for ending the war in BiH throughout the aggression.
The US was a true friend of BiH, and remains so today as they try with all their might to help BiH politicians overcome the crisis.
The US also played a key role in the peace negotiations for BiH, which were conducted and signed in the American city of Dayton.
