(Patria) - Exactly 22 years have passed since the official opening of the Srebrenica Memorial Center, an institution that has grown into a pillar of memory culture in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region.
Over the years, the Memorial Center has grown from a place of remembrance into a strong institution that brings together researchers, survivors, international partners, and all those who believe that truth and justice must be the foundation of the future.
From archiving documentation and establishing permanent museum exhibitions, through educational programs and international summer schools, to the realization of major research projects, the Memorial Center has become recognized worldwide as an example of institutional memory and the fight against genocide denial.
"Through cooperation with domestic and international institutions, governments, and organizations, we have managed to strengthen our capacities and consolidate the role of the Memorial Center as a place where facts, testimonies, and the dignity of the victims are preserved.
Today, on another anniversary of its official opening, we thank everyone who has been part of this process over the years. We especially thank the victims' families, employees, researchers, donors, and partners from all over the world.
Their support and trust have made the Memorial Center what it is today - an institution that preserves the past, builds truth, and sends a message to future generations," the Memorial Center stated.
