14 years ago, the BiH Premier Football League was formed

The Premier Football League of Bosnia and Herzegovina is the strongest football league in Bosnia and Herzegovina and currently consists of 12 clubs. August 4, 2002, is considered the beginning of a unified football competition system in BiH, i.e., the beginning of the BiH Premier League. The league is composed of clubs from the Federation of BiH and Republika Srpska. 

During the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Football Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina organized the first wartime football competition in BiH. The competition was held in 1994/95 in areas where no conflicts were taking place, and the teams were divided into four groups: Jablanica, Zenica, Tuzla, and Sarajevo. The group winners played a final tournament in Zenica, where the first champion of Bosnia and Herzegovina became the home team Čelik. Starting the following year, a regular league was established, played by 16 clubs from Bosnia and Herzegovina, from cities that were under the control of the Army of RBiH during the aggression.

After long negotiations and under pressure from UEFA, in 2002, the Football Association of Republika Srpska decided to join a joint competition, under the name Premier Football League of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Clubs from the Federation of BiH and from Republika Srpska united in a joint league, for the first time since the end of the war, writes Patria.
